Michael Vranos, founder and chief executive officer of Ellington Management Group, will deliver a keynote address at the upcoming Absolute Return symposium on March 8.
Mr. Vranos founded Ellington in December of 1994 to capitalize on distressed conditions in the MBS derivatives market.
A panel of top allocators will kick off the event, featuring Chris Acito, chief executive officer of Gapstow Capital Partners; John Bailey, founder and chief executive officer of Spruce Investment Advisors; David Kupperman, managing director and head of liquid strategies at Neuberger Berman; and Eric Siegel, senior managing director of Mesirow Advanced Strategies. The high-profile investors will discuss their outlook for 2018 and the qualities they look for when choosing managers.
This year’s all-day Symposium will be followed in the evening by our annual awards dinner, during which we will honor the Americas hedge funds with the best risk-adjusted performance. This year the Symposium will make a particular effort to enlist the participation of the awards nominees, including the Firms of the Year, to solicit their views and highlight their roles as natural leaders of the industry.
Planning for the Symposium is now in full swing. If you would like to suggest topics or speakers, or are interested in participating yourself, please let us know.
The Symposium has typically attracted more than 400 attendees, and will once again bring together leading and influential managers and investors from across the globe. Past speakers have included such luminaries as Bill Ackman, Cliff Asness, Kyle Bass, John Burbank, Elaine Crocker, James Dinan, Izzy Englander, Mitch Julis, Marc Lasry, Dan Loeb, Eric Mindich, John Paulson, Andy Redleaf, Dinaker Singh, David Shaw, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Peter Thiel and Boaz Weinstein, among many others.
